Most finance apps assume your data belongs on a server. My Wealth Ledger works the other way — a complete personal finance diary for Windows that runs 100% offline, keeps every number inside an encrypted vault on your own PC, and never asks for an account. Here's why that matters and what it can track.
When a finance app runs online, your data travels to a server — often to be aggregated, analysed, and monetised. You have no way of knowing exactly what is stored, who can access it, or what happens to it when a company merges, changes policy, or shuts down.
An offline finance app is the opposite. Nothing ever leaves your machine. There is no database on our side, no analytics pipeline, no advertising profile. Your salary, your savings, your loans and your goals are a private matter — and an offline app keeps them that way, permanently and by design.
Offline also means dependable. No internet? No problem. It works the same in a home office, on a laptop during travel, or anywhere else — the app simply doesn't depend on a connection.
My Wealth Ledger organises your entire financial life into 17 sections, all stored in a local encrypted database:
17 sections, one live net worth number, one encrypted vault — and not a single byte uploaded anywhere.
Being offline protects you from the network; encryption protects you from anyone who gets access to the machine. My Wealth Ledger stores your entire diary in an encrypted SQLCipher database — the file is unreadable without the right key — and locks the app with a personal 4–6 digit PIN. The PIN is never stored in plain text: only a salted cryptographic hash is kept, and a security question helps you recover if you forget it.
That means even someone sitting at your PC cannot open a single number without your PIN. And because the database lives in a folder you choose, backup is simply copying that folder to a USB drive or your own storage — and moving your data is as easy as moving a folder.
| My Wealth Ledger (offline) | Typical cloud finance app | |

Because your data is yours, getting it out is trivial. Export your full diary to CSV at any time, generate a formatted PDF report with cashflow, profit & loss and charts, and re-import records whenever you need. There is no lock-in, no proprietary account, and no gatekeeper.
Choose offline if you value privacy over convenience, if you want your financial information to exist in exactly one place you control, or if you simply want a clean, fast, subscription-free tool. If a family member's finances are part of the picture, My Wealth Ledger's per-member views keep everyone aligned too.
