Every number is encrypted at rest

My Wealth Ledger stores your entire diary — every account, transaction, document and goal — in a single database encrypted with SQLCipher, the same technology that encrypts full databases on mobile phones and desktop apps. At rest, the file is meaningless without the correct key: opening it in a hex editor, a text editor or another database tool reveals scrambled data and nothing else.

The app locks with a personal 4–6 digit PIN. The PIN itself is never stored or transmitted in plain text — the app keeps only a salted, cryptographically hashed version for verification, and offers a security-question recovery path if you forget it.

The two layers that protect you

• Encryption (defence against theft) — someone who copies your database file, steals your laptop, or sits at your machine cannot read a single figure without the key.
• PIN lock (defence against shoulder-surfing & casual access) — the app itself stays locked until your PIN is verified against the stored salted hash.
• Offline operation (defence against the network) — the app has no internet connection, no analytics SDK and no advertising trackers, so there is nothing to intercept in transit.

If cloud finance apps store your table in their vault, My Wealth Ledger builds you your own vault — on your own disk, encrypted with your own key.

Never collected, never shared, never sold

There is no account, no profile, no metadata pipeline. The app cannot collect behavioural data because it never calls home — it works with full functionality while offline. Your name is stored only to seed the encryption key inside the vault, not on any registry or server.

Your data, still fully portable

Encryption doesn't mean lock-in. Back up by copying your vault folder anywhere you like — a USB drive, external disk, or encrypted cloud storage of your own choosing. Restore by pointing the app at the folder again. Export the full diary to CSV, generate PDF reports with cashflow and profit & loss, and import records from CSV whenever you need.
