We collect nothing. Your data never leaves your device. End of story.
No accounts, no sign-up, no email required — ever.
The app makes zero network requests of any kind.
No analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry, no ads.
No third-party SDKs that could track you.
Your notes are yours, stored locally, and never touched by us.

1. Introduction

Cabinote is a desktop application developed and published by TheHobbyist Software. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.

The full answer: it collects none. This policy applies to all versions of Cabinote for macOS and Windows.

2. What We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, process, store remotely, or transmit any of the following:

Your name, email address, or any personal identifier
Device identifiers or hardware fingerprints
The content of your notes, drawings, or embedded images
Usage patterns, session data, or activity logs
Crash reports or error logs
Location data
Payment or billing information (the App is free)

There is no analytics SDK. There is no crash reporter. There is no telemetry. There are no ads. There is no account system. None of these things exist in the app.

3. Where Your Data Lives

Everything you create in Cabinote — every notebook, note, drawing, and image — is stored in a local database on your own computer:

macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/cabinote/

Nothing is ever copied, synced, or uploaded to any server. Your data does not go anywhere except the folder listed above. You own it completely.

4. Network Activity

Cabinote makes zero network requests. The app has no internet functionality. It does not check for updates, phone home, or make any outbound connection for any reason, ever.

You can verify this yourself with any network monitoring tool — Windows Firewall logs, Wireshark, or Little Snitch on macOS.

5. Third-Party Code

Cabinote uses two open-source libraries: Electron (the app framework) and NeDB (the local embedded database). Both run entirely on your machine. Neither contacts any remote server. No other third-party SDKs, libraries, or services are included.

6. Children

Because we collect no data from anyone, there is no special privacy concern for children. The app is safe for use by all ages.

7. Data Security

Since your data never leaves your device, its security is the security of your computer. We recommend:

Use a strong login password on your machine
Use the app's PIN lock for sensitive notebooks
Back up the data directory in Section 3 regularly

8. Your Control Over Your Data

You have complete control:

Back up: Copy the data directory from the path in Section 3.
Move: Copy the data directory to the same path on a new machine.
Delete: Uninstalling the App may not remove your data files. To fully delete everything, manually delete the data directory after uninstalling.

9. Changes to This Policy

If any future version changes how data is handled, this document will be updated before that version is released. The core commitment — no data collection, fully local storage — will never change without your explicit opt-in.

10. Open Source

Cabinote's source code is available for inspection. You are welcome to verify any claim made in this policy yourself. Source code is on our GitHub profile.
