End-User License Agreement

Why this exists

Cabinote was built out of passion and shared freely with the world. No one is getting paid for this. It costs nothing to download and nothing to use. It was made in spare time, by a hobbyist, for people who just want a nice place to write things down.

You get it for free. In return, you accept it exactly as it is.

1. Agreement

This End-User License Agreement ("Agreement") is between you ("User") and TheHobbyist Software ("Licensor"), developer of Cabinote ("Software"). By downloading, installing, or using the Software, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.

2. License Grant

You are granted a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on computers you personally own or control, for personal, educational, or internal business purposes. You may keep one backup copy for archival.

This license does not include the right to sublicense, sell, rent, lend, or transfer the Software to any third party.

3. Restrictions

You may not:

• Sell, distribute, or publicly share the Software installer or binary files.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software.
• Modify, translate, or create derivative works based on the Software.
• Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices.
• Use any part of the Software to build a competing product.

4. Intellectual Property

The Software — including all code, graphics, UI designs, and documentation — is the exclusive intellectual property of TheHobbyist Software, protected by copyright law. All rights not expressly granted here are reserved.

The name "Cabinote", the application icon, and the TheHobbyist brand are trademarks of TheHobbyist Software. Do not use them without written permission.

5. Your Data Belongs to You

All notes, drawings, images, and content you create with the Software are entirely yours. TheHobbyist Software makes no claim to any of it. Your data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted anywhere. See our Privacy Policy.

6. Free Software — No Warranties Whatsoever

This software is provided completely free of charge. For that reason, it comes with absolutely no warranty of any kind.

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE IS WITH YOU. Should the Software prove defective, you assume the full cost of all necessary repair or correction.

You use this Software entirely at your own risk.

7. No Liability for Data Loss — Ever

The developers of this Software shall not, under any circumstances, be held liable for loss, corruption, or destruction of your notes, drawings, images, or any other data — whether caused by software bugs, crashes, storage failures, operating system errors, hardware failure, or any other cause whatsoever.

This is free software built out of compassion. Back up your data. That responsibility is yours alone.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THEHOBBYIST SOFTWARE, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, OR ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROJECT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION) ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.

The total liability of the developers to you, for any reason whatsoever, is zero — because that is also what you paid.

9. Updates

The Licensor may release updates at any time and is under no obligation to do so. This Agreement applies to all updates. The Licensor reserves the right to modify this Agreement by posting an updated version on the website. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

10. Termination

Your rights terminate automatically if you breach these terms. Upon termination, destroy all copies of the Software in your possession. Sections 4, 6, 7, 8, and 11 survive termination.

11. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of India. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in India.

12. Open-Source Components

Cabinote is built on the following open-source libraries, each governed by their own licenses:

This Agreement does not modify or restrict your rights under those licenses.
